Creative Business: Turning Passion into Profit

My favorite passion project to date was starting a brick and mortar furniture, home decor store that also had a restaurant and wine lounge/bar in it. There was a bakery as well to bring in the early birds for coffee and pastries. Having opened the business in a small town we had to be creative on using the space for as many hours as possible in a day. I’ve moved onto my next passion project but Brick Street Furniture Co. + Wine Lounge is still doing well with the original concept, minus the bakery. If you ever have the chance, take a road-trip to Sabetha, KS to see this destination store. The renovation of the building alone is remarkable and worth your time!

Previous passion project: The beginning of renovations on a 1940s warehouse.

Starting a creative business can be a rewarding and fulfilling endeavor for a number of reasons.

Here are some potential reasons why you might consider starting a creative business:

  1. Pursue your passion: If you have a passion for a creative field, such as art, music, design, or writing, starting a creative business can allow you to turn that passion into a career. Doing work that you love can be highly satisfying and can bring a sense of purpose to your life.
  2. Flexibility and autonomy: Creative businesses often offer more flexibility and autonomy than traditional corporate jobs. As a business owner, you can set your own schedule, work from home, and have more control over your work environment.
  3. Express your creativity: Starting a creative business allows you to express your creativity in a way that is not always possible in a traditional job. You can use your skills and talents to create unique products or services that reflect your personal style and vision.
  4. Build something of your own: Starting a creative business allows you to build something of your own and take ownership of your work. This can be highly rewarding and can give you a sense of accomplishment and pride in what you’ve created.
  5. Make a difference: Creative businesses can make a difference in people’s lives by providing them with products or services that improve their quality of life or inspire them in some way. You can use your creativity to make a positive impact on the world around you.

It’s a beautiful thing when career and passion come together.
